Risunnokka of Kaunissaari (Kaunissaari, Eurajoki)

Timber was transported around the island along purpose-built rails. Boards were piled in the area between the sawmill and Risunnokka. In the early days, all unusable wood waste, mainly narrow strips of wood, was left here in Risunnokka. This waste is still clearly detectable. It has been estimated that the length of the island grew by approximately 300 metres due to the wood waste produced. Later on, the wood waste was burned in a designated location known as Risuhelvetti (“brushwood hell”), on the southern shore of the island.
