Ouran pooki, the Oura daymark, was built on the Pookikari island in the 1850s. It guided seafarers towards a safe route to the port of Merikarvia. The Ouraluoto pilot station is located 0.5 kilometres north of Ouran pooki. Together, these two structures tell us about the history of seafaring.
