The Bothnian Sea National Park

The Bothnian Sea National Park is Finland’s largest Baltic Sea protected area. Its specialities include its rich fish life and fishing, bird life, marine cultural heritage and a unique archipelago landscape shaped by the land uplift. The area covers 912 km², of which 15 km² are land. Like all Finland’s national parks, the Bothnian Sea National Park is open to everyone, free of charge. You can experience the park’s natural environment on foot or skis, or by rowing, canoeing or travelling by boat. You can admire spectacular scenery on marked and safe trails, enjoy a packed lunch at a maintained campfire site or even overnight under the stars in almost total silence. Under the Finnish everyman’s right, you can also pick berries and mushrooms. In addition, you can fish and camp for short spells in the park. More information on restrictions and rules is available at outdoors.fi.
